Little Bear Berners Family Information Center
Bitter sweet News
After 20 years of Breeding Beautiful Bernese Mountain Dogs we are retiring and Little Bear Berners will no longer be raising or boarding Bernese Mountain Dogs.
It's been 20 years of meeting new friends and raising bernese mountan dog puppies for loving families. Our last litter was born 4-27-2023 and have all gone to thier new homes. As we are getting older it's time for us to slow down a bit and simplify our lives. We paln to sell the kennel property and down size to a lower maintenance home to take life a little easier.
We have enjoyed and appreciate all of the fine families and new friends that we had the privilege to work with over the past 20 years and wish them all the best.
Our recommendation for future puppies is to contact the local BMD clubs for breeder referral and as always check breeders out completely.

Welcome to Little Bear Berners Family Information Center! Little Bear Berners is a breeding kennel for Bernese Mountain Dogs. Our focus is to provide the best quality Bernese Mountain Dogs possible to people who will love and cherish them. Quality to us means type, health, temperament and a long happy life. Quality to us also means people relationships as well! Those who own a Berner from us become part of the Little Bear Berner Family and we try to maintain contact with each other to share our Berner experiences. We enjoy sharing information on raising, training and caring for Berners and appreciate the valuable feedback from our families that helps us monitor and improve our breeding program. On this site you will find information about us, our kennel, our dogs, available puppies, applications and contracts, as-well-as people you can contact to check us out. Our Kennel
Little Bear Berners is located on five acres north of the Twin Cities in the beautiful state of Minnesota. We have a kennel building but the dogs share the house most of the time.
Our kennel building has eight indoor kennels with five individual attached outside runs and several large outside exercise areas. We have two inside kennel puppy pens and two outside puppy play areas for when the weather permits. The kennel building also has a custom built kitchen with bathing and grooming areas for the "spa treatment" of Berners who come to the Little Bear Bed and Breakfast while their family travels or vacations. There's never a shortage of Berner companions. It's like going to "Gramma and Grampa's" for the furry kids. The lower level of the house once had a family room and three bedrooms, but now has a large Berner family room and two whelping areas where babies are cared for during their first two to three weeks of life.
It's not unusual to find a Berner under the office desk when working at the computer or a carpet of mountain dogs on the kitchen or living room floor. Wherever the people are, that’s where the Berners are.
The dogs love to take turns riding in the truck or van, going anywhere, but especially a drive-thru that gives out dog treats, like the bank or car wash.
The Berners don't seem to mind sharing their home or yards with the cat or other Berner visitors. They enjoy meeting and greeting the many visitors we have. We have a wonderful kennel and a great facility, but we don't have any kennel dogs. All of our Berners are family members and live in the house with us or with our very special extended Little Bear Berner Family (the TLC homes.)
